Upper Ear Piercing?

Hey All,

Okay I’ve decided to get an upper ear stud in my left ear..

Who knows what I should do to make sure i get a good one?

I’m terrified of shattering my cartiledge or getting badly infected, or goign through alot of pain. I have two sets or earrings in my lobes, I felt no pain whatsoever with them. The firsts got infected whenever i put cheap earrings in, i can only wear nickle free earrings. The seconds took about 3 months to heal, i took them out for soccer 2 months after getting them and they started pouring blood. So i know i have to give any of my peircings heaps of time and good quality earrings.

Now i’ve heard you can get it done with a gun or a needle, i know the gun is quick easy and so far pain free…but will it shatter my ear? i’m slightly anxious with the whole needle in, needle out, earring in episode…especially as i dont deal with lasting pain to well, so maybe i should take something before hand?

and do i go to a hairdresser? chemist? tatooist?

i hear cosmetics plus is good if in a busy area, but i do want Quality!!

If anythign goes wrong (califlower ear, realy bad infections etc) im going to get the ‘I told you so’ form dad =S

So any comments would be awesome!

I would recommend: don’t do it. Now, I’m entirely pro-piercings, but my sister Nebs got her upper ear pierced about a year ago, and it still hasn’t healed properly (she got it done with the gun at a chemist, and did the whole spray-and-twirl routine religiously every day for three months). Nebs never had infected ears before when she got her earlobes pierced, she’s not sensitive to cheap earrings or anything, but still, the upper ear piercings haven’t healed. I can only imagine it would be worse in your case…
I hadn’t heard anything about the cartilage “shattering” - that certainly didn’t happen to Nebs - but I’d say it’s still not worth the pain, maybe get another lobe piercing.
I guess it’s different for everyone though. Good luck with whatever you choose!

I’ve not had my upper ear pierced so I’ve got no advice for you, but good luck !!

Thanks, so did Nebs have any pain?

A bit, but it only hurts if you touch it (e.g. lying on your side at night) or if hair gets caught in it, but it doesn’t throb. Still, it’s awful annoying not being able to sleep on one side for a few months.
When you actually get the piercing done, of course there’s the initial sting of the gun, but that’s not bad at all.

It’s more that Nebs’s piercing didn’t really heal… she still puts antiseptic on it now…
